WELCOME TO PALS (Paraguay Adoption List Service)!!!

The following information is important for your membership/subscription to this list. Please review this Charter as well as the User Tips and Instruction sections. Thank you for joining.

PALS CHARTER [TOP]

PALS is designed to facilitate the sharing of information among parents who adopted children from Paraguay as well as interested friends and family. PALS is available free of charge to anyone wishing to subscribe, although participants are expected to focus their messages on issues relating to:

    • Adoptions in Paraguay
    • Paraguay in general
    • Activities involving families with children adopted in Paraguay
    • Parenting of Internationally Adopted Children

Membership in this service entitles a subscriber to post messages for distribution to other members of PALS as well as receive messages posted by others. A reply to a message will be broadcast to the entire list and may prompt more discussion. We encourage you to provide your name and e-mail address in the message body to help PALS members know which member is making which statement.

Privacy Policy: The PALS subscriber list (names/e-mail addresses) will not be made available to anyone other than those responsible for the maintenance of the service, unless authorized to do so by ALL subscribers. The use of the service for commercial solicitations (other than those items deemed by the administrators to be of general interest to PALS members) is prohibited and will be grounds for removal from PALS.

As this is an "unmoderated" service, messages will not be edited or censored. The administrators, however, reserve the right to remove a subscriber at their discretion. Removal will occur for the following reasons: a subscriber is unable or unwilling to abide by the topic guidelines; a subscriber sends messages deemed by the administrators to be personally provocative towards or is personally offensive to another PALS member. In all cases, the administrators will privately ask the subscriber(s) to refrain from such actions. Failure to abide by this request will be grounds for immediate removal from PALS.

Should you have any questions, please contact the PALS Administrators:

QUICK INSTRUCTIONS [TOP]

POSTING EMAIL [TOP]

Every time you post a message, all of the other subscribers on the list receive a copy, just as if you sent it to them personally. As a subscriber of the list, you will receive a copy of every message anyone else sends. Only subscribers can post messages to this list.

USER TIPS [TOP]

Be sure to read and keep this “welcome” message as it contains valuable information about the list, including how to remove yourself from the list, either temporarily or permanently. This message also contains guidelines from the list administrator on accepted usage of the list.
The list will only accept e-mail posted from the e-mail address the member used to subscribe to the list. Accordingly, if you use multiple e-mail addresses, you must subscribe from each address.
Keep your posts relevant to the list topic.
If you have a comment which is relevant to only one list member, e-mail them privately, instead of posting your comment to the entire list.
Text in all upper case letters is the Internet equivalent of SHOUTING.
When quoting a previous post, delete all but the relevant portions of the text.
When first joining a list it is customary to write a brief introduction of yourself as your first post. We've included a list of information below which is helpful, although certainly not mandatory, for members. List members sometimes feel more comfortable about contributing to the list after they have "lurked" for a week or two. (Lurking is an Internet term describing a member who reads the posts others are sending to the list, but does not post themselves.) This will give the new member a feeling for the "tone" of the list and the interests of other members.

Member Information:
  • Name
  • E-mail address
  • Location (city/state)
  • Children (age/names)
  • Date of Adoption
  • Location of Adoption
  • Current status (adopting/completed)
  • Interest in PALS
  • Website address

WHERE IN THE WORLD ARE PALS?! [TOP

Welcome to Where in the World are PALS?! - a cooperative effort to gather photographs of PALS families in a way that connects each of us to one another and to where we live. On a random basis, cameras will travel around the world allowing each PALS family an opportunity to take photos of themselves. After a family finishes taking their photos, they send the camera to the next participant family.  As cameras are used up, they will be returned for developing and the photos will be posted to this website.

Involvement is strictly voluntary, but you must be a PALS member. It costs nothing more than the time to take some pictures and the expense of sending a small box to another family ($3.85 for domestic US mail).

To gain entry, you need a Username and Password. as only PALS members are able to gain access.  When you access the site, you will be asked for authorization.  Please enter the following:

Username: XXXXX
Password: XXXXX
